Cameras on police uniforms in Poland

Lost24

Do  you think that cameras on police uniforms can improve the behaviour of  both officers and civilians during emergency actions?

The long-term program of the modernization of uniformed forces in Poland will include the registration of the work of police officers with the cameras installed on police uniforms.

Some time ago we wrote about the work of police officers with cameras installed on uniforms and the  interesting experiment conducted at the Cambridge university.  It was demonstrated that the awareness of the fact that we are being recorded influenced our behaviour considerably.

However, for some people a camera on the uniform of the police officer worked in the simply opposite way, people threw a fit of passion when they learnt that they are being recorded and subsequently attacked officers.

Poland is not the first country which successively equips officers with cameras. In 2015, on the streets of  Los Angeles, USA the first police officers turned up who had cameras installed on their uniforms .The authorities made up their minds to take this step due to numerous accusations of abusing power by police.

Polish government wants the cameras on a police uniform to become a standard. The government hopes that the result will be positive, especially in terms of the settlement of disputes.

Cameras will be recording the policemen on duty only if the devices are turned on by the policeman
